Dr. Kattia Porras was born and raised in Naranjo, Central Valley, attended medical school at the Costa Rica University in San José, the best and most recognized university in Costa Rica, where she obtained her medical degree. After her internship in the major hospitals of San Jose, she moved to Nosara for a year of social service at the Social Security Clinic (EBAIS) in town. She fell in love with the warmth of the community, the beach and the beauty of nature around Nosara and decided to establish her home and private medical practice in this beautiful place.
Dr. Kattia Porras is certified in general medical practice and has practiced primary and urgent care in Nosara for over fifteen years, her mission is to provide quality health care to her patients. At work, she enjoys taking care of patients with acute illnesses and injuries as well as preventive medicine, she takes time with patients not only to diagnose and to treat but also to explain their illness or condition so that they can become part of their healing process; the doctor believes in the bioindividuality of each patient and treat them holistically to ensure their physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing, she is sensitive to the personal preferences and wishes of the patients and provide recommendations that allows patients to make informed decisions. To provides her patients the best medical care she stays up to date on current medical topics by the continuing medical education program of the College of Physicians of Costa Rica. In her spare time she enjoys reading, swimming and walking on the beach.

For your next medical consultation bring the following information:
- Identification (Costa Rican national or residency identity card or passport)
- CCSS or INS insurance card
- A list of any prescriptions or over the counter medication you are taking
- Any recent lab work or test results
If you just realized that you ran out of medication, you can request a 30 day prescription refill on any prescription medicine that has been lately prescribed to you by another doctor in or out the country. Simply stop by Dr. Kattia Porras' office, bring your preceding prescription bottle and your identification ( Costa Rican identity card or passport)
No insurance? no problem, we have affordable standard fee to fit your needs. For the insured patient, the doctor will provide you with the form and receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for them to reimburse you directly.

- I’ve visited Dr. Kattia twice for foot injuries. As a surfer and boat owner, i cut my feet a lot. I had been to other Doctors in the area who were quick to decide on surgery as soon as possible. Dr. Kattia took the time to get to know me, how i injured myself, didn’t rush me, educated me about my injury and how to properly care for it, and promised to try her best to avoid a surgical procedure. In both instances, my injuries healed almost immediately after having been touched by Dr. Kattia, without surgery. She seems to have the “magic touch” a thing that you’re born with and can’t be taught in Medical School. Dr Kattia is a true Medicine Woman.
